Dembitzer, Hayyim Nathan
(1820-92)
   Polish talmudist and historian. He was born in Krakow and became dayyan there. He was active in financial support of the old yishuv in Palestine. He published works on responsa literature, the tosaphists, and talmudic and rabbinic literature; he also wrote biographies of the rabbis of Lwow/Lemberg and neighbouring commu-nities.
